The Relationships Among Transcendence of Character Strengths, the Purpose in Life, and Psychological Well-Being of the Mothers of Students with the Physical Disability

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among transcendence of character strengths, the purpose in life, and psychological well-being of the mothers of students with the physical disability. For the purpose of this study, data collected with 71 mothers of students with the physical disability were analyzed by Pearson¡¯s correlation analysis, t-tests, and one-way analysis of variance. The main results of this study are as follows: First, significant relationships were found between the transcendence of character strengths and the purpose in life of the mothers. The higher group in transcendence of character strengths was found to score significantly higher purpose in life than the lower group. Second, significant relationships were found between the purpose in life and psychological well-being of the mothers. The higher group in the purpose in life was found to score significantly higher psychological well-being than the lower group. The results of this study were discussed and further studies were suggested.
